On a recent trip to China, Hal met with Xie Zhenhua, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and a member of the CPC’s Central Committee. Vice Chairman Xie is in charge of energy development and policy in China. As China is the world’s largest energy consumer and CO2 emitter, China’s policies play an important role in determining whether we will have a reasonable climate future. An article on the meeting appears here, on China’s NDRC website. The caption reads: “On May 17, 2012, Vice Chairman Xie Zhenhua met with Hal Harvey, the founder of the Energy Foundation and the ClimateWorks Foundation. The two sides exchanged opinions on the trend of global energy industry development, combating climate change, and related issues.”
In addition, Hal was interviewed by China Environmental News, and a feature story was published on July 2. A copy of this story (in the Chinese language) is available here
